Secrets and Forms of Glass

Laurean and Horatiu are father and son, master and apprentice. Together, they preserves a new old tradition: glass shaping. The glassware is present in the area of Mediaş from the beginning of the 20th century and continues in places such as Olarian workshop. Here the glass is hand-shaped into decanters, perfume bottles, glasses, decorative items. It is blown, engraved, painted with small tools, patience and much skill. Our workshop visit will surprise the craftsmen work and we will see how many blows you need to create a fermentation funnel or how hard you have to blow to make a glass globe which fits your hands. And we can not leave until we find out how the stories of the furnace, which has to continuously burn for months, for turning the sand into glass.
